The PB is not the character (except in certain creepy kinds of RPs). This is grossly unfair to the RPer who is doing his/her best to create a unique and interesting character. Even if he’s canon there will still be a lot of differences from version to version, so to lump them all together as if they were alike is shortsighted and rude.  There’s also the matter of whether or not your characters are even suited to each other. Unless your character is only in it for the sex and you don’t care about the relationshippy side at all. The PB is not the character. The PB is not the character. The PB is not the character.
