fyeahroleplayingrabbit: I was so happy to find the other half of my OTP in an RP Community and that’s why I joined it in the first place. I’ve been trying to message him and create posts about my character meeting him so they can start a story together but it seems like I’m being completely ignored T-T. It upsets me since it’s the first time I ever attempt to roleplay on Tumblr and I really, really want to make my OTP ‘real’ :(. My advice is to  join a group you like and just play. See what works and what doesn’t. Get a feel for how the other players/characters interact and which one- if anyone- makes the best fit with your character. If you go into it with the express purpose of pairing yourself with a particular person you’re going to miss a lot of other opportunities and may accidentally overlook some crucial details. Such as whether or not the character is already in a relationship or if the RPer is interested in your pairing- or even open to pairings in general. Not everyone is roleplaying just for ships and not everyone is comfortable getting into that side of things, especially with some stranger out of the blue. Take it slow and do your research. If you see a character you’re interested in, find out more about that particular personification. I’ve seen people who think that all [Character X]s are basically interchangeable, which is hugely insulting to the various RPers who are doing their level best to make their version of [Character X] unique and interesting. There is a LOT that can be done even with canon material and tons more can develop over the course of roleplaying. Respect the RPer enough to research their particular iteration of a character and see if you can get a feel for the RPer him/herself. And remember you can always go OOC and just ask the RPer stuff. It’s usually considered the polite thing to do. Although maybe try to find a more tactful way to put it than “Can I be one of your conquests?” *snrk*  And again, if you’re new to RP/tumblr RP it’ll help to practice your general RPing skills before you try and throw your poor character neck-deep into a relationship. “Good things come to those who wait,” and all that trite stuff.
